Julian Blackmon, #1, has been playing football since he was seven. As a senior at Layton High, a Wide Receiver and Corner Back, and one of the leading captains of Layton High’s Varsity Football Team, he has a simple mission. This mission, along with the other players on the team, is to make it to the 2015 UHSAA Utah State High School Football Championships.
With the knockout beginning to our season, 3-1, Layton High has dominated on the field. “I feel pretty good about it. Our team is pretty good this year, we’re a lot different. As long as we can keep our heads down and play hard every game I think we’ll win a lot of games this year.” Blackmon says, in our interview on September 11th, 2015. Our interview reveals it’s not all about the points and the plays, it’s about the friendships. “It really shows on the field that we’re comfortable with each other, and trust each other.” With that trust, it indefinitely helps the performance of the team, Blackmon says. If this friendship basis continues, and the humility towards failure and improvement, State isn’t that far out of reach.
Blackmon has signed with University of Utah to play football next season, and on behalf of Layton High School and the Centurion Staff, we wish him the best in his football career.
