Undefeated region records were at stake for both Davis and Layton on January 23rd. Emotions and excitement was evident in players and fans for one of the biggest games of the year. These two rivals have played great games in the past and always have high expectations when they meet. Both teams competed in a very back and forth game. Layton finished the first quarter up 15-13. Davis answered the attack and the Lancers went into halftime down 35-27. The Lancers didn’t let that get them down and ended up being up at the end of the third quarter 44-40. In the fourth quarter, No.1 Julian Blackmon helped keep Layton in the lead with some clutch free throws. Layton won the game 58-52. They remained undefeated in region at 7-0. They beat Syracuse on the 27th to move to 8-0. This hot streak continues to raise expectations for the Lancers. They hope to improve their region record to 9-0 when Weber comes to visit on January 30th. The Lancers have done great things and we cannot wait to see how much they are capable of as the season is getting closer to its end. Some big tests remain. Including a game at Davis against revenge-minded darts. Don’t doubt, Layton appears ready for any challenge.
