The Viewmont Vikings basketball team came to Layton High ready to play on January 16th. At the end of the first quarter the Lancers trailed 15-12. They came in strong the second quarter and went into halftime up 26-24. Viewmont continued to stay in the game and the Lancers only led 39-38 with one quarter left. Hopes were high and energy swept through the gym. Trailing by 3 with little time left Viewmont drilled a 3 pointer to go into overtime. Both teams continued to fight forcing three overtimes. Eventually Layton took advantage of Viewmont's missed shots and pulled away winning 67-64. Layton now has a record of 10-5 and remains undefeated in region at 6-0. That record is at stake as Davis comes to visit on the 23rd of January. Lead by high school star Jesse Wade, the Darts come in also undefeated in region. Emotions will surely be high in what could be the Lancers biggest game of the season.
